Our entry to racing program is designed for younger skiers looking to improve their all-mountain experience and explore racing. It will provide the foundation for the necessary skiing skills and fundamentals to advance in to our Shred Mitey Mite program. Coaches will stress the importance of having fun while learning mountain safety, new ski skills and basic racing fundamentals through skiing, play, games and mountain exploration. Athletes will spend most of their on-snow time in directed free skiing with their coach. Racing skills will be introduced as the season progresses and athletes will have an opportunity to participate in our season ending Mt. Hood Mitey Mite Council race.
Participants must be able to put on their own ski equipment, load and ride the lift alone and ski at an intermediate level (parallel skiing/no wedging). This means all athletes ages seven and above must ski in a parallel stance. Six year old participants must be able to stop on their own and have two previous seasons on snow.
